An exciting opportunity to join one of our key clients as a Head of User Infrastructure, reporting into the Assistant Director. Remote Working Model. Salary: £56,000 - £64,000 (DOE) Day-to-day, your responsibilities will encompass: Provide senior leadership to teams responsible for the availability, operation, maintenance, and quality of the company’s User Infrastructure. Oversee the planning, acquisition, installation, maintenance, management, and security of on-site and cloud-based end-user technologies and services. Manage the provision and support of IT infrastructure to maximise availability and minimise service disruption through proactive monitoring and maintenance. Lead the development, delivery, and review of university-wide IT strategies, policies, standards, and performance measures. Ensure information and system security, business continuity, disaster recovery, and user safeguarding for user-focused infrastructure and cloud services. Represent the IT Services department at a senior level internally and externally, contributing to corporate objectives and incident response efforts. Skills Required: Leadership and influencing skills with a strategic approach to decision-making and problem-solving. Broad technical knowledge and experience in cloud and identity service delivery, end-user device management, and IT infrastructure technologies. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to delegate tasks and manage large support and service contracts effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of forming strategic alliances and maintaining relationships with vendors, suppliers, and external bodies. Familiarity with ITIL principles, including Change, Availability, and Capacity Management, as well as IT Service Management. Proficiency in budget management, including the preparation of large tenders and the management of financial performance against targets. Salary: £56,000 - £64,000 (DOE) Day-to-day, your responsibilities will encompass: Lead the planning, acquisition, installation, maintenance, and management of core IT infrastructure and associated cloud services for the company. Provide senior leadership to teams responsible for availability, operation, maintenance, and quality of the core IT infrastructure. Co-lead corporate-wide cyber- and information security provision and incident response, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual reporting. Develop, deliver, and review University-wide strategies, policies, standards, and performance measures to optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services. Manage the provision and support of IT infrastructure, ensuring maximum availability and minimal service disruption through proactive system monitoring and maintenance. Represent IT Services at a senior level within the company and externally, building strategic relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and professional bodies. Skills Required: Higher degree or relevant professional qualification at a postgraduate level with significant professional experience in an infrastructure or datacenter management role. Broad range of technical skills with substantial experience in managing IT infrastructure-related technologies in a medium-sized corporate environment. Excellent leadership and influencing skills, with a strong ability to delegate, manage performance, and motivate teams. Familiarity with ITIL Change, Availability, and Capacity Management principles and experience with large support and service contracts. Strong organisational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and strategic thinking for decision-making. Desirable certifications include ITIL Practitioner, ISO 27001 ISMS Foundation or higher, BCS Foundation Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP). Location: 1 day per week onsite in Cambridge Salary: £56,000 - £64,000 Role description: Manage and support IT infrastructure to maximize availability and minimize disruptions through monitoring, proactive actions, and maintenance. Collaborate with Architecture, Development, and Application Management teams to transition services, ensuring alignment with operational strategies for system and equipment replacement. Lead on information and system security, business continuity, disaster recovery, and user safeguarding, while developing and reviewing strategies, policies, and performance measures to optimize service efficiency and effectiveness. Partner with the Procurement Department to establish and maintain purchase and support contracts, ensuring best value and continuous improvement. Supervise team leaders in small-scale acquisitions and manage budgets for maintenance, support, subscriptions, and consultancy to ensure value for money and optimize financial performance. Manage Endpoint Management, Microsoft365, Aligned Cloud Services, and Multimedia Infrastructure teams to ensure support meets agreed service levels through effective resource management. Build a customer-focused workforce across User Infrastructure, providing leadership that aligns with the clients values, motivating staff, and promoting performance improvement. Guide team member development, working with leaders to implement tailored programs for personal development and performance management. Skills / Qualifications required: Higher degree also Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Practitioner qualification would be highly advantageous. Strong experience working within a similar role with Microsoft 365 and the implementation of Azure. Significant and recent experience in cloud and identity service delivery for a medium - large sized organization. Practical experience in managing end user devices in a corporate environment. Extensive people management experience, including performance and absence management, as well as coaching. Proven experience in managing supplier arrangements, including large support and service contracts. Experience working with a wide range of IT user-focused infrastructure technologies.
