Software Developer Apprentice
Austin Fraser are delighted to be able to offer a Software Development Apprenticeship on behalf of a long-term client of ours specialising in regulatory and financial services software. Our client helps financial institutions and regulators with business reporting, data modelling, and unlocking the value of their data.
This role would suit a recent graduate or A-Level leaver with a passion for technology and a good introductory understanding of programming.
This is a Higher Level 4 Apprenticeship and is anticipated to last approximately 16 months. The successful candidate can expect to join the business full-time as a Software Developer upon the completion of their apprenticeship.
This is a well paid Apprenticeship, with an annual salary of: £19,644
Primary activities are working on coding work-streams for projects, such as creating new solutions or tooling or adapting existing ones
Between projects you will work on maintenance and enhancements of existing software solutions.
Development of new codebases (Java, SQL, Python)
Code review of newly-developed software
Development and enhancement of automation scripts and tools in a variety of languages to help the team streamline work
Maintaining and fixing bugs in existing codebases
A mix of solo and paired programming
The desire and ability to learn quickly and apply complex new technologies
An attention to detail and desire to deliver high quality work
Some experience in software development, especially Java, Python, SQL and Linux
Experience of object oriented development principles
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and report on progress
An aptitude and enthusiasm for software development
